Course description

This course is specially designed for both clinicians and business team members. The content will assist the entire team in applying the 2018 AAP Classification System.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, you will be able to:
- Apply the 2018 AAP Classification System in individual patient care plan.
- Build clinical templates and for learning.
- Improve chairside patient care recommendations by correctly categorizing the patient’s periodontal condition.
- Recognize the importance of practising the concepts of periodontal medicine as laid out by the American Academy of Periodontology in the new 2018 Classification System.

Lisa Mayo, RDH, BSDH, MHA

Lisa Mayo, RDH, BSDH, MHA graduated magna cum laude from the Caruth School of Dental Hygiene at Baylor College of Dentistry in 2002. She then graduated magna cum laude from Ohio University with a Master's of Healthcare Administration in 2016. She is currently enrolled in a PhD program for healthcare administration at Franklin University. Lisa is the Academic Chair for Dental Hygiene, Dental Assisting, and Surgical Technology at Dallas College. She is active in the tripartite of the American/Texas/Dallas Dental Hygiene Association and has held multiple leadership and board positions.

Lisa has contributed chapters to textbooks and published hundreds of articles, white papers, and peer-review continuing education courses on a broad range of topics for Access, Canadian Dental Journal, Dental Economics, Dental Learning, Dimensions of Dental Hygiene, Medicom, Penn Well, ProfessorRDH, RDH, and StudentRDH. She authored her first full-length textbook in 2023 with Jones & Bartlett entitled Power Instrumentation for the Dental Professional that can be purchased through Amazon , Barnes & Noble, or Jones & Bartlett.

Lisa has been teaching continuing education courses to national and international audiences since 2006. She has partnered with companies such as Henry Schein, Colgate, Dental Learning, Perio Protect, Bio Gaia, Forward Science, and Solmetex over her teaching career. She speaks on air polishing, caries, dental practice management, digital scanning, implants, infection prevention, dental lasers, oral cancer and screenings, periodontology, pharmacology, radiology, special needs, technology, and ultrasonics.

Lisa started her own dental education company Diamond Dental Education. The company was established in 2012 and provides continuing education courses to dental professionals in the great State of Texas!
