For the everyday RDH
Why this course?
- It is difficult to filter through the information on Orofacial myology since many sources of information seem to conflict with each other
- “Tongue thrust” is the most recognizable buzz-word surrounding myofunctional therapy, but it does not encompass all that therapy entails
- Oral Rest Posture is not taught in dental school, or dental hygiene school, yet incorrect Oral Rest Posture affects almost 40% of our patient population
- Interdisciplinary treatment is essential when treating OMDs, yet, it is often difficult to collaborate when we don’t know how to effectively communicate our findings
- Many companies are developing “myofunctional appliances”, but there is no one-size-fits-all solution for OMDs, therefore, it is imperative that we have trained Orofacial Myologists in dentistry
